When I grew up my Mom had a big patch of "pinks" by our patio. I loved to sit on the steps near the flowers where I could smell their intense, spicy, clove-like scent. For years I've had my eye out for the same plant or something similar. Finally I found something close. I don't remember the flowers being as single petalled and flat as these, (though my memory might not be too accurate!), but the scent is unmistakable. We are well past our usual frost date, so my little patch is happily offering forth more bloom and more delicious scent.
