Winter Eggs

A basket full of winter eggs!!  To my amazement the chickens have started laying again in earnest.  Maybe it was the thaw we had over the past couple of weeks that made them think spring is coming.  Or the change in light levels during the day.  Still....it seems a little earlier than usual for them to be laying this much.  We have three new heavy chickens and three new bantams, so we're going to see a lot of eggs this year.  Even the older hens, who normally lay infrequently, are laying like crazy!  Last week we took some to the food bank.  This week the food bank was closed when we stopped by, so friends will share the surplus.  Thank you hens!!!
