Stained Glass

Among the tasks that fell behind in the garden this summer was trimming the Virginia Creeper.  It grew long tendrils which hung down around the north porch.  Somehow I just didn't seem to mind.  I rather enjoyed being enclosed in an arbor of green.  The other day, as I went to get something from the mudroom, I glanced out the window and saw this.  The setting sun filtering through leaves turning red.  A beautiful stained glass window.  This year the fall leaves are the most beautiful I can remember.  It is such a joy to be surrounded by so many incredible colors after last year when temperatures dropped so fast, and so unexpectedly, that all the leaves turned brown and hung onto the trees throughout the winter.
