The Beauty of Winter

So many people tell me they don't like winter....and many years ago I felt the same way. Then one winter my heart became like a barren landscape. I found that when I dwelled deeply in that dark place within, a quiet beauty emerged. Likewise, I began to see beauty reflected in the winter landscape around me. What once looked barren, became filled with subtle nuance. Deep burgandys, soft golds, gentle peaches, vibrant blues, dark greens mixed among the predominant greys and browns. Now, when I look upon a winter landscape, the greys and browns look beautiful to me.....and the subtle colors mix into them to create a tapestry that never ceases to inspire. Sometimes, when my heart becomes a barren land....I remember those winter hues.
