First Day of Spring

On the Celtic calendar, this is the first day of spring. Spring equinox, which we usually think of as the first day of spring, is the actually the middle of spring on their calendar. This makes so much sense to me.

Even though winter is still with us......there are changes. The sun is higher in the sky. Storms aren't as severe. Daytime temperatures are warmer. The air has a softness to it. Sap is beginning to rise and I see buds swelling on the lilacs. I hear new bird songs and mornings are alive with their chatter when I set out to feed the chickens. Indeed, today feels like the first day of spring to me.
